Overview
Nd:YAG laser hair removal is a laser hair removal system that works with light energy at a wavelength of 1064 nm and can reach the deepest layers of the skin. Because it relies less on melanin pigment than other lasers, it bypasses the upper surface of the skin and targets the hair follicle and the capillary network that feeds it directly. This means that in aesthetic medicine it can be used safely even on very dark skin types, including tanned skin, minimising the risk of burns. It is particularly successful on deep-rooted, coarse and resistant hair. As well as hair removal, it is an effective solution for chronic skin problems such as recurring ingrown hairs and inflammation of the hair follicles (folliculitis).
Procedure and Important Notes
How Is It Performed?
Hair should be shaved with a razor 1–2 days before treatment. During the procedure, pulses are applied together with powerful cold air cooling systems to protect the skin and increase comfort.
Aftercare
Mild redness or tenderness may occur after treatment. Avoid hot water, saunas, strenuous exercise and exfoliating mitts for the first 24 hours. Moisturise the treated areas regularly and protect them with high-factor sunscreen.
